The General’s Son
This is the Tenth Anniversary Edition of Miko Peled’s powerful account of his transformation from a young man who grew up in the heart of Israel’s elite and served proudly in its military into a fearless and outspoken advocate of equal rights for all Palestinians and Israelis.
This edition includes:
- an all-new Preface in which Peled reflects on the growth of the Palestinian-rights movement since he published the first edition of this work, in 2012, and
- an Epilogue that takes readers with Peled on his travels around the world to promote his message of personal discovery and peacemaking: to South Africa, East Asia, Europe, the West Bank, Gaza, and back to Israel itself.
Iconic poet Alice Walker contributed a Foreword to the first edition. She wrote there that, “There are few books on the Israel/Palestine issue that seem as hopeful to me as this one.”
The General’s Son has been translated into more than a dozen languages. After writing it, Miko Peled embarked on further, very experience-rich, personal and political journeyings which included researching and writing Injustice: The Story of the Holy Land Foundation Five (Just World Books, 2018); maintaining a robust social-media presence (which can be accessed through his personal website); and the founding, in 2023 of the Washington, DC-based Palestine House of Freedom.

This is an important book, full of hope and inspiration for a shared destiny between Palestinians and Israelis based on mutual respect and equal rights.
